Hotel reservations made thru online discount websites like Expedia, Priceline, Orbitz, and Travelocity are almost always slated for the worst rooms.These rooms are for the worst locations in the hotel, the rooms that the hotels feel are not favorable and most guests do not want. They are offered more by low price and not based on value and quality.  First the hotels receive their lowest profit from these reservations. It is always better to book thru travel agents to get the better rooms and prices from their contracted suppliers which give them better deals.

Note: Hotels prefer their loyalty members first and always give them the best rooms. Also hotels always overbook room at 110 % so they know that the hotel will be fully booked. They realize that about 10 % of the rooms will be canceled or no shows.

The HR dept at the Ritz Cariton has told every employee who works there that they have a SPECIAL ALLOWANCE OF $ 1500 to make sure the guests feel their stay is a memorable one. The employee can offer specials to customers free that normally they would not get. Marriott hotels are part of the same chain as Ritz Cariton but not sure if the same policy applies.
